JENESYS Programme
The JENESYS Programme was initiated by the former Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Shinzo Abe, in 2007 at the 2nd East Asia Summit (EAS). The exchange programme brings 6,000 young people from the EAS member states (ASEAN, Australia, China, India, New Zealand, the ROK) to Japan every year for 5 years. The objective of the JENESYS Programme is to help lay the foundation for solidarity among Asian countries by promoting mutual understanding amongst youth of ASEAN and EAS member countries. The programme is open to youth between 15 and 35 years of age, who have never participated in JENESYS before, and is a citizen of a JENESYS participating country.
